Consolidation of civil society of Armenia will result in resignation
of President Serzh Sargsyan, political expert Edgar Vardanyan said at
today's press-conference.
He said that post-election events may develop according to the two
scenarios. First, Serzh Sargsyan will tender his resignation under
public pressure and new election will be held. "As for the second
scenario, the Constitutional Court will adopt a decision and fix the
second round of the election", - the expert said. He also added that
permanent kind atmosphere around the opposition candidate for
president Raffi Hovannisian is hardening more and more and the
pressure of the society is growing. He said that the authorities of
Armenia should be wise and make concessions. "They have to agree to
the opposition and make power change according to the soft-power
principle, that is to say, to discuss the format and terms of
resignation", - the expert said and added that otherwise, the people
will start revolt and will resolve the issue by means of force.
He said that consolidation of the opposition field may be demonstrated
at the forthcoming Elders' Council election on 5 May. "If Hovannisian
gathered about 43% in Yerevan, undoubtedly he will be lucky at the
forthcoming election as well", - he said.
