YEREVAN COOPERATES WITH 50 CITIES WORLDWIDE

Armenia has a wide network of cooperation with more than 50 cities
worldwide. The YerevanCity Hall has agreements with 36 cities, Head
of the Foreign Relations Department of the City Hall David Gevorgyan
told reporters today. He said the municipality intends to expand the
geography of partner cities by 2013.
"This will not be of formal character," David Gevorgyan said, adding
that effective cooperation programs will be worked out.
The City Hall of Yerevan is developing large-scale cooperation programs
with Tehran, Kuwait and Stavropol. The Mayor of Bucharest is expected
to visit Armenia.
"Our cooperation with international organizations is also of great
importance," David Gevorgyan said, recalling that last year Yerevan
joined Eurocities - the community of European cities. The network
includes more than 170 European cities.
According to the Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the City
Hall, a decentralized summit is expected to be held in the French
cities of Lyon and Valence. Yerevan has large cooperation programs
with French cities.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of cooperation with the English
Cambridge and the 20th anniversary of partnership with Lyon.
