YEREVAN, MARCH 19, ARMENPRESS: Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan
suggested Raffi Hovhannisian, holding the second place in Presidential
Elections, to establish a Constitutional Council headed by Raffi
Hovhannisian himself, to involve the best Armenian specialists in
their fields, aimed at elaborating constitutional amendments strategy.
The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced
this during the press conference with the several mass media
representatives on March 18. Armenpress reports about this citing
"Liberty" radio station. Sargsyan stated Constitutional Council could
derive suggestions from its strategy, make them available for pan
national discussions, and invite various experts. "They could launch
serious work and lead the process to a referendum. If the nation votes
for it in referendum, we shall accept those Constitutional amendments.
I call their efforts to make public whatever crosses their mind at
least non efficient," President Sargsyan noted.
Among other things President stated that Raffi Hovhannisian and he
has agreed upon to make suggestion still in the course of their first
meeting following Presidential Elections, on February 21. "I suggested
him to put down his ideas on a paper and send them to me, I myself did
the same. Yet as usual I kept my promise and still looking forward
to his letter. Instead I only hear menaces stated by him announced
in Freedom Square," Sargsyan told.
Armenia's President underscored if specific suggestion is made, he
will respond with specific answers. One man cannot launch a dialogue.
One cannot negotiate alone. "One should have a partner. If one does
not accept the other part's suggestions, he should at least make his
own suggestion, instead of calling Serzh Sargsyan to resign if he
is a man. I can also make formulations of different kinds as well,"
President underscored.
