Ruben Hakobyan, Head of the Heritage parliamentary group, is concerned
over the post-election tension in Armenia.
The situation can only be settled by means of a political dialogue.
"The Constitutional Court did not overturn the Constitutional Court's
ruling. It goes on supporting the incumbent authorities," he said.
"As regards the CC's statement on few complaints about election
frauds during the February 18 presidential election, I would like to
note that both in 1996 and in 2008 Armenia's CC and Central Electoral
Commission were flooded with complaints after the elections. But the
CC's ruling was never challenged and the government- backed candidate
won the 2008 elections," Mr Hakobyan said.
He also commented on a statement by Hayk Babukhanyan, an MP from the
ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), who said that "the sexual
minorities, sectarians and politically unconscious sections" voted
for the opposition.
Addressing to Armenia's incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, Mr Hakobyan
said: "Mr Sargsyan, if you really think that the present situation
can be resolved by showing a sealed envelope in the square or by
accusing Raffi Hovannisian of using bad language, if you brand people
on hunger strikes 'sick and hungry' you have nothing to discuss with,
I can state with confidence that you are unaware of what is going on
in the country and of what consequences your stance may have."
