YEREVAN. - Armenian capital city Yerevan Deputy Mayor Vano Vardanyan
conveyed to Knyaz Hasanov, the Chairman of the Kurdish National
Council of Armenia, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan's congratulations in
connection with the Nowruz (New Year) holiday of the Kurdish people.
`The Kurdish community has taken an active part in the municipal
programs and has been at our side. Yerevan Municipality underscores
the national minorities' role and significance in the city life, and
stands ready to cooperate and to assist,' Vardanyan noted on behalf of
the Mayor.
In his turn, Hasanov stressed that Yerevan's Kurdish community
participates in the municipal programs, and expressed a readiness to
expand cooperation, the Municipality press service informs.
`This consideration by the Mayor comes to prove yet again that our
ties with the Armenian people are very strong. And when the Kurds of
the world consider Yerevan as one of their cultural centers, this is
no longer surprising. We express our readiness, on behalf of our
community, to do what is possible for the development of the city,'
