Armenia-born professional boxer Arthur Abraham (36-4, 28 KOs) lost to
former WBO champion Robert Stieglitz (44-3, 25 KOs) after suffering an
unfortunate injury in a rematch of their first fight from last summer
in which the Armenian had prevailed.
The fight in Magdeburg, Germany, on Saturday night was stopped at the
beginning of Round 4 when Abraham, dubbed `King Arthur', had developed
a big bruise on the left eyelid.
The ring doctor who examined the boxer recommended termination of the
fight, with the official verdict giving Stieglitz a win by technical
knockout.
The boxing news website, proboxing-fans.com, quoted Stieglitz as
saying that he was ready for another rematch and would `give Arthur
the chance again and again'.
Abraham's manager Wilfried Sauerland, for his part, said his charge
had lost `by an unfortunate injury'. `When decency prevails, there
will be another fight,' he added, according to the source.
