Resumption of Azerbaijan's aggression against the Nagorno Karabakh
Republic will become a beginning of Azerbaijan's collapse, David
Jamalyan, military expert, told media Tuesday.
"The Azerbaijani public no longer trusts in the Azerbaijani army and
in many other state structures in that country. The recent protest
actions in some regions in Azerbaijan were connected with that public
non- confidence that has grown after numerous non-combat deaths in the
armed forces of that country. Most of the soldiers killed in peacetime
in Azerbaijan are representatives of the original national minorities.
This situation makes resumption of military actions in the Karabakh
conflict zone less and less probable," Jamalyan said.
He thinks that the gap between the alien Transcaucasian Turks and
autochthonous population of Azerbaijan (Lezgins, Avars, Talishes,
and Tats) whose rights are constantly ignored is growing.
"All these processes are evidence of the crisis of the authorities
in that country and of gradual decline of the Azerbaijani statehood.
Azerbaijan is an artificially created statehood where consolidation
of the local ethnic groups is impossible due to oppression of their
national identity," the expert said. Jamalyan thinks that the growing
discontent of the Azerbaijani public at the authorities is also
connected with the Kurdish roots of Aliyev's clan.
"There is information that Kurds are actively resettling in Azerbaijan
from Iran and Turkey, which aims to ensure social support in case of
emergency. Reportedly, a special police division consisting of Kurds
has been set up to disperse possible rallies and protest actions,"
Jamalyan said.
He thinks that all these processes are in favor of Armenia as they make
it possible for the country to concentrate its resources on settlement
of domestic problems at the same time keeping combat efficient army.
