Head of Civil Aviation Artyom Movsisyan explained today why foreign
air companies leave Armenia.
At the meeting with British Airlines, the government directly asked the
representatives whether they were not satisfied with the Zvartnots
prices or there were other reasons. The British representatives
answered the company's decision was determined by their internal
policy issues. He noted that the closure of the British Airlines
flight to Iran promoted the closure of the flight to Armenia too.
As to the Polish LOT air company, which also stopped activities in
Armenia, Movsisyan said that it is in hard economic conditions.
Yerevan-Beirut flight has not been held for already three weeks.
Artyom Movsisyan says the reason is the wish of Beirut aviation to
carry out an audit in Armavia. "We agreed, but I think the change of
their government is the reason why they don't come to do it", he said.
As to Yerevan - Kuwait and U.S. flights, which were spoken about but
weren't held, the Civil Aviation head says that though the Kuwait
airport was ready to provide privileges to the Armenian side, the
flight to Kuwait would not be profitable. The same goes for flights
to the U.S.
