RA DAY CELEBRATED IN 39TH INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR IN BUENOS AIRES

YEREVAN, MAY 3, ARMENPRESS: The Day of the Republic of Armenia was
traditionally celebrated on May 1 within the framework of the 39th
International Book Fair in Buenos Aires. Armenia, as well as 40 other
participants of the exhibition, presented a separate pavilion. As
Armenpress was reported by the Department for Press, Information and
Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic
of Armenia, the event, held in the hall of Jorge Luis Borges by the
assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Argentina and
the representatives of the Armenian Diaspora, was attended by more
than 1,200 guests. Speeches were delivered by the Ambassador of the
Republic of Armenia Vahagn Melikyan and the Minister of Culture of
Buenos Aires Hernan Lombardi, who spoke on the importance of books
in culture and history of the two countries.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Argentina Vahagn Melikyan
particularly stated in his speech: "The Armenian pavilion has had its
unique place in this authoritative exhibition for already 30 years
due to the assistance and participation of the Armenian Diaspora. In
2012 the 12th capital of Armenia was declared the 12th capital of the
world book by UNESCO. Last year we celebrated the 500th anniversary
of the Armenian printing presenting to the world the long and hard
way of the Armenian book, full of pains and suffering, but also full
of glorious achievements."
The Minister of Culture of Buenos Aires Hernan Lombardi highlighted
the fact of declaring Yerevan as the World Book Capital in 2012, the
events held on this occasion, as well as the important significance
of the book in the cultural life of the two countries. He shared his
impressions about his visit to Yerevan on the abovementioned occasion
considering it to be multifaceted and unforgettable.
The Buenos Aires Book Fair is one of the top most events related
to books sector. It is one of the popular book fairs among visitors
and exhibitors as they are able to see the new editions of books and
literature of the top most authors and exhibitors, also got a good
