Trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Armenia developing
    dynamically in recent years

The mutual trade turnover since 2001 to 2012 has increased by 16
times. Belarus has its own distribution network in Armenia

By Galina Karipidi: The diplomatic relations between Belarus and
Armenia will mark the 20th anniversary this year. In 2001, during the
first official visit of the President of Belarus to Armenia, a treaty
of friendship and cooperation was signed. The first working visit of
the Head of the State took place in 2009, the second - in 2010. It was
then that Alexander Lukashenko visited the Brandy Company. Due to the
personal arrangement of the Head of State with the owner of the plant
Garik Tzarukian famous Armenian brandy appears in Belarus. In 2012,
the Belarusian President opened the bottling line of cognac, raw
materials for which are brought from Armenia. Production capacity of
the joint enterprise amounts to 2 million liters per year.

In general, the two countries have signed more than 60 contracts and
agreements on developing cooperation in economy, science and
technology, military sphere and tourism. This is facilitated by the
lack of political frictions, similar positions on most key
international issues, mutual support in international organizations,
interest in improving the efficiency of cooperation within the CIS and
    CSTO.

Bilateral contacts are maintained by the diplomats of the two
countries. The Belarusian Embassy in Yerevan opened in September 2001.
During this time, Armenia has formed its own distribution network of
Belarusian enterprises, through which Belarus successfully sells
trucks, utility and road construction equipment. All the three
companies with the participation of the Belarusian capital are
successful. In September 2010, the Armenian-Belarusian trading house
"Ar-Be" was opened in Yerevan. Coordinating role in the development of
mutual trade is played by the Belarusian-Armenian intergovernmental
commission on trade and economic cooperation established in 2000.

On February 19, 2013, Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the current
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on his re-election.
