All airline companies must respect Armenia's laws - economic
competition protection commission

YEREVAN. - All airline companies must respect the laws of Armenia and
not violate the rules of competition.
Chairman Artak Shaboyan of the Armenian State Commission for the
Protection of Economic Competition (ASCPEC) stated the aforesaid on
Tuesday.
To note, ASCPEC started studies to reveal the problems of competition
in Armenia's aviation sector. In this context, representatives from
the airlines companies that fly to and from Armenia were invited to
ASCPEC on Tuesday to hold discussions and provide explanations for
their actions.
Shaboyan said if any of these airline companies increases its prices
without any grounds, the given company will be brought to account.
Armenia's non-resident airline companies, however, were given more
time to present reasons for making price changes.
The ASCPEC study has shown that ever since Armavia Airline
Company - which is Armenia's national carrier - has left the country's
aviation market, flight price changes in Armenia did not occur in all
directions because Armavia was not conducting regular flights in all
directions.
In their turn, however, representatives from the airline companies
noted that a short-term price increase usually occurs in the spring
months.
