Business, wealth and oligarchy Armenian authorities' `grants' -
Democratic Homeland leader
20:28 - 15.05.13
Petros Makeyan, Chairman of the Democratic Homeland party, cannot
explain the presence of Armenian National Congress (ANC) party members
at the dedication of St John the Baptist church built with the
sponsorship Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) chairman Gagik Tsarukyan.
Raffi Hovannisian visited the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims,
accompanied by Chief of Armenia's Police Vladimir Gasparyan, which
prevented clashes and victims. `But they sat down at the table with
the godfathers of March 1,' he told Tert.am.
With respect to the opinion voiced by Naira Zohrabyan, Secretary of
the PAP parliamentary group, that the PAP is not going to be an
opposition like the Democratic Homeland party and others, he said: `I
am surprised at her way of thinking. Is she not going to become a
laughing stock? It is common knowledge that the authorities are
granting all the privileges - business, wealth and oligarchy. Do
people become oligarchs in Armenia without being favored by the
authorities? This woman has turned into theater of the absurd.'
`The people are well aware of whether Gagik Tsarukyan's PAP is a party
or business and of the people there. Yes, I know some people and even
have friends among them. But they were forced to join the structure.
If the authorities had not allowed money to be given them, would the
Barev, Yerevan bloc have polled many votes?'
