Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev declared in Austria a few days ago
that the status quo in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is unacceptable.
He added that the change of the status quo would mean withdrawal of
the Armenian forces from the so-called `occupies territories of
Azerbaijan.'
`It's no secret to anyone that such statements of the Azerbaijani
authorities are targeted at preventing any changes to the status quo,'
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said in comments
to Armenpress.
`If Azerbaijan really wanted the status quo to change, it would come
to an agreement on the principles proposed by the Minsk Group
Co-Chairs and thus contribute to the progress in the negotiations,
instead of frustrating the talks like it was the case in Kazan,' the
Deputy Foreign Minister stated.
`Azerbaijan has just one opportunity to satisfy its aspiration for the
change of the status quo, bypassing the Minsk Group framework. For
that Azerbaijan should recognize the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and
start negotiations with NKR on the elimination of the consequences of
the aggression Baku unleashed,' Shavarsh Kocharyan said.
