ARMENIA AND INDIA ENJOY HIGH-LEVEL POLITICAL RELATIONS

President Serzh Sargsyan received today a Good Will parliamentary
delegation from India, headed by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister
of State Paban Singh Ghatowar, President's Press Office reported.
Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the parliamentary delegation to our country
and underscored that the visit of the parliamentarians to Armenia is a
good opportunity for them to familiarize with Armenia, the history and
culture of the Armenian people, and feel our people's attitude toward
the Indian people. The President stressed the role of parliamentary
diplomacy in strengthening interstate relations and expressed hope
that the members of the Indian parliamentary delegation have had
productive discussions with their Armenian colleagues.
The parties concurred that works of the friendship groups formed
in the two Parliaments are very instrumental in the development of
constructive and close relations between the two legislative bodies.
The interlocutors underlined that Armenia and India enjoy high level
political relations, the two countries closely cooperate in the
framework of international organizations and have similar approaches
on many issues which serves as a good base for developing relations
also in the trade, economic, and humanitarian areas. The two sides
expressed confidence that the centuries-long Armenian-Indian warm
and friendly relations, close cultural ties are being maintained and
strengthened also thanks to the Armenian community of India.
The President of Armenia expressed gratitude to the Indian people
and the government of the country for the constant assistance and
care for the Armenian community and Armenian Church.
Discussed were possibilities of deepening cooperation in a number
of areas which hold mutual interest and have great potential for
development, such as IT, education, science, culture, health care,
and other areas, which will in turn encourage reciprocal investments
in the economies of the two countries.
At the meeting, President Sargsyan expressed condolences to the
members of the Indian delegation on the major auto vehicle accident
in India. He expressed his support to the families of the victims
and wished a speedy recovery to all injured.
Minister of State Paban Singh Ghatowar thanked President Serzh Sargsyan
for his sincere and warm words and underscored that India attaches
great importance to the development of relations with friendly Armenia
in every area.
