POLISH AND ARMENIAN POLITICAL ANALYSTS HOLD A ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

YEREVAN. - The Jagiellonian University of Poland and Yerevan State
University (YSU) organized a debate in Armenia's capital cityYerevan.
During the event, the Polish and Armenian political analysts
discussed the achievements and the future of Eastern Partnership,
and the perspectives of EU-Armenia cooperation.
The scholars from the Jagiellonian University - Prof. Bogdan Szlachta,
Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies; and Dr.
Piotr Barjor - and the representatives of higher educational
institutions of Yerevan, the political world of Armenia, and YSU
faculty and students attended the conference entitled "The European
Partnership and Armenia: Objectives, Experiences and Challenges."
Among the Armenian participants of the discussion were Prof. Edgar
Ghazaryan, Governor of Vayots Dzor Region; MP Tevan Poghosyan; Prof.
Gegham Petrosyan, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations at
YSU; Dr. Artur Ghazinyan, Director of European Studies Center at YSU;
and Prof. Aleksander Markarov, Advisor to the rector of YSU.
The roundtable of the Polish and Armenian political analysts was
convened by the financial support of the Department of Culture
and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland,
and within the scopes of the "Co-operation in the Field of Public
Diplomacy 2013" program.
Polish Ambassador to Armenia Zdzisław Raczyński stressed that
Poland, as the initiator of the European Partnership, will enhance
the strengthening of EU-Armenia cooperation to the possible extent,
and support the process of reforms and system changes in Armenia,
which will bring Armenia closer to EU.
Before the start of the conference, however, the discussants stood a
minute of silence in memory of Poland's late Prime Minister Tadeusz
Mazowiecki.
