"THE FIRST EXPLOSION WAS IN MY FATHER'S POCKET." SHANT HARUTYUNYAN'S SON IS TELLING ABOUT YESTERDAY'S EXPLOSIONS

    November 7 2013

Shahen Harutyunyan, Shant Harutyunyan's 14-year-old son, is telling
new details to Aravot.am regarding yesterday's explosions on
Mashtots Avenue. "We definitely did not have bottles of petrol, but
the explosives may have been on both sides. At first, it was very
unexpected for me, because the explosive exploded in my father's
pocket," told Shahen Harutyunyan assuring that he was not aware of
their supporters having explosives with them, or not. At the same he
ruled out the possibility of dropping the explosive in his father's
pocket by somebody else. To remind that yesterday Shant Harutyunyan
before starting the action stated that they did not take anything
other than "bottles of petrol, stone, sticks, Y-shaped sticks and
manganese bronze." Later, Shahen added that they were planning a
peaceful march, and what changed the situation, he did not want to
say. Shahen Harutyunyan, referring to circulating rumors that the
explosives were dropped not by them, but by the police, he said,
"Who are making these statements? I do not know how it was, I was very
much messed up at that time, these explosions were a surprise to me."

Shahen also said that shortly before the police called him and
told that his father wanted to see him. That was the reason of his
intention to go to the Liberty Square after their belongings, which
did not happen. In the coming hours, he is going to see his father.
