ARMENIA CAN BRIDGE IRAQ WITH CUSTOMS UNION: PREMIER
YEREVAN, November 7. /ARKA/. Armenia can bridge Iraq with Customs
Union member countries, Armenia's premier Tigran Sargsyan said at
his meeting with Iraqi vice-premier Roz Nuri Shawees, the government
press office reported.
Armenia holds interest in development of its bilateral relations
with Iraq, the premier said. According to Sargsyan, the considerable
increase in turnover between the countries over the last year shows
there is great potential for development.
Vice-premier Shawees, in his turn, congratulated Armenia on accession
to the CU and said Iraq is interested in expansion of ties with
Armenia. Iraqi delegation, Shawees said, consists of businessmen who
want to establish links with Armenian entrepreneurs.
The sides stressed the importance of direct flights between the
countries and a simplified visa regime. They said both countries are
interested in construction sector.
According to ArmStat, Armenian exports to Iraq amounted to 15.7
million dollars in 2012.
According to Armenia's vice-premier and co-chair of Armenia-Iraq
intergovernmental commission Armen Gevorgyan, Armenian exports to Iraq
amounted to about 30 million dollars in nine months of this year. -0--
