SIS BRINGS CHARGES AGAINST ARGISHTI KIVIRIAN
The Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia charged activist,
Armenia Today website's coordinator Argishti Kivirian with violence
against a representative of the authorities and false denunciation,
the press service of SIS reported.
According to the source, Kivirian was charged under the Criminal Code's
Article 316 part 1 (violence against a representative of authorities)
and Article 333 part 2 point 1 (false denunciation, accompanied by
accusations of a grave or particularly grave crime).
On August 24, 2013, Kivirian used non-health-threatening violence
against a policeman when he was detained after refusing to obey a
lawful order of the policeman who maintained public order in the area
near a newly-built building at 5 Komitas Street in Yerevan.
The statement says that while being taken to the Arabkir police
station, Argishti Kivirian hit his head against a door of the police
car, suffering self-inflicted injuries to the forehead, the nose and
the eyelid. He also threatened the policeman to accuse him of the
injuries he received.
Kivirian carried out his threats. Realizing that his report was a
false one, Kivirian submitted a report to the appropriate bodies
authorized to open criminal cases, informing them that policemen had
inflicted injuries on him. Recognizance not leave Yerevan was chosen
as a measure of restraint against Kivirian.
