YEREVAN. - Famous actor and comedian Vardan Petrosyan, who was
involved in a road accident on October 20, left the Stress Center in
Armenia's capital city Yerevan.
Petrosyan headed to Abovyan City General Jurisdiction Court, where the
motion for his arrest will be examined, the Armenian News-NEWS.am
reporter informs.
While leaving the Stress Center, however, the actor spoke with journalists.
Petrosyan told reporters that he was aware that two young men had died
as a result of the accident, and added that he is ready to be held to
account, regardless of the duration of the punishment.
`I do not remember anything. I had asked for three or four days so I
could recover,' the actor said.
Separately, Petrosyan's attorney Nikolay Baghdasaryan told Armenian
News-NEWS.am that he has not yet received the ruling on his appeal
against the actor's arrest warrant and the expert conclusion. But
Baghdasaryan hopes that the court will make a reasonable ruling.
To note, a major accident occurred on October 20 in Kotayk Region. A
BMW and a VAZ 2121-model vehicle crashed at around 9:20pm on the
Yeghvard-Yerevan motorway. As a result, seven people sustained
injuries and were transferred to several hospitals. Among them was
famous actor and comedian Vardan Petrosyan, whose liver and spleen had
ruptured. His spleen was removed, his ruptured liver was stitched, and
he recently was discharged from hospital. As a result of the accident,
however, cousins Edgar and Eduard Hakobyan - who were passengers in the
VAZ 2121 - had died. Tatev Hakobyan remains the sole accident victim who
is still hospitalized.
A criminal case is instituted on the incident. The Police news service
had informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that there was a warrant on Vardan
Petrosyan's arrest.
But Petrosyan's health had grown worse Wednesday, as he had blood
pressure fluctuations and respiratory complications. As a result, he
was initially taken to Erebuni Medical Center, and subsequently
transferred to the Stress Center in Armenia's capital city Yerevan.
The actor is considered an arrestee, and police officers were on duty
in front of his hospital room.
