Argentina is the first Latin American country where Armenia established
its embassy, and Argentina's first embassy in the South Caucasus was
established in Armenia.
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan noted the aforesaid
Monday at his talk with representatives of the Argentinean-Armenian
organizations.
On Sunday, Abrahamyan and the official NA delegation led by him
visited the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Buenos
Aires. They laid a wreath and placed flowers to the Armenian Genocide
Memorial and the monument to the Armenian soldiers that fell during
the Karabakh War.
Abrahamyan recalled that Armenia has lifted visas with Argentina
and that this attests to the friendship between the Armenian and
Argentinean states and peoples.
"We are proud that our compatriots are engaged in the development of
the Argentine public life," he added.
The Armenian parliament leader also thanked the government and people
of Argentina for their warm disposition toward the Armenians living
in Argentina.
"We stand ready to continue the steps aimed at deepening cooperation,"
he noted.
Reflecting on the Nagorno-Karabakh (NK)-or Artsakh-conflict, Armenian
National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan specifically stated: "The
NK negotiation process continues, and irrespective of Azerbaijan's
belligerent statements and threats, we will do everything to achieve
the pro-Armenian resolution of the Artsakh issue. All respective
prerequisites exist. I am convinced that, with joint efforts, we can
further strengthen the two states, [and] the Armenian diaspora."
