Teachers from several secondary schools of Yerevan have complained
to the paper about a decision to lower their salaries against the
backdrop of the continuing surge on the food market.
Citing it sources, the paper says that the school principals have
been instructed to reduce the wages and save additional sums to be
able to pay the teachers more beginning next July. But the budget for
the secondary schools is not going to change, as a matter of fact,
notes the paper.
It says further the situation is almost the same in the regions,
with many schools reducing the working hours, thus excluding many
teachers from the academic process.
"There is a teacher who has four academic hours per week. Can such a
teacher work with devotion and have a heartfelt attitude to education,
experienced though he or she may," pedagogues from the Gegharkunik
region has said, speaking to the paper.
