AZERBAIJANIS LOST INTEREST IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS - AZERBAIJANI ANALYST
October 01, 2013 | 14:27
YEREVAN. - Azerbaijanis do not seem to show much interest in
presidential elections slated for October 9, political analyst Arif
Yunusov said during a space bridge.
"Registration of candidates for presidential elections was accompanied
by pressure. Incumbent leader Ilham Aliyev was the first to register
his candidacy, others appeared to have problems with documents,"
he said.
He is convinced the candidates cannot have contacts with citizens, and
the police are preventing them from having any contacts. Yunusov said
this resulted in low level of public awareness and lack of interest
in presidential vote.
People think that the central electoral commission has decided
everything beforehand, the political analyst concluded.
