ARMENIA'S ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS DISCUSS NEW TEACHING TECHNOLOGIES
YEREVAN, October 2. / ARKA /. More than 100 teachers of English
from across Armenia are discussing the prospects for introduction
of new technologies in the field of education during a conference
called Education: the Process or the Ultimate Goal, organized by the
British Council.
The purpose of the two-day conference is to familiarize the teachers
with the latest teaching methods, as well as with technologies used in
the world to teach and learn English, director of the Armenian branch
of the British Council Arevik Saribekian said at the opening ceremony.
Addressing the teacher's education and science minister Armen Ashotyan
said greater attention is being paid to introduction of information
technology in education, and one of the best examples of this was
the creation of the Armenian Virtual College in 2009.
British ambassador to Armenia, Jonathan Aves, stressed the importance
of the conferences which helps boost the efficiency of English
language teaching , which in turn will improve the perception of
British culture in the world.
The guest of the conference is an expert on educational technologies
Russell Stenord who had taught at the University of Westminster. -0-
