SERZH SARGSYAN'S THREATS
The information office of the president informed that Serzh Sargsyan
visited the National Security Council staff's Center of Analysis
and Assessment of Threats to National Security. Serzh Sargsyan was
accompanied by the CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha and
the president of Rostelecom Sergey Kalugin who has assisted in the
establishment of the center.
This message is symptomatic as the topic of security is practically
closed. "Security" is fully handled by Russia together with all its
aspects, including risk analysis and assessment.
What risks is the agency headed by Arthur Baghdasaryan which has
recently been transformed to a CSTO "branch office" going to analyze
and assess? Who is going to identify what is threat and what is not?
Will Armenia agree if, for example, Armenia identifies Azerbaijan
as its threat given that Baku is Russia's key strategic and economic
partner?
Or if, for example, Russia identifies the EU and NATO as threat,
what will Armenia do? Will it agree? And do Armenia and Russia have
common friends and foes?
Armenia's so-called political system has fulfilled its dream,
shedding all concerns and responsibility for the sovereignty of the
state. One fears a "coup", the other fears the wish for a "coup",
others keep eloquent silence. And everyone refers to the "security"
of Armenia and Karabakh.
As a result, Armenia will not be independent to assess its risks
because it is going to be deprived of its first-hand sources of
information. And risk analysis goes without saying. Armenians analyzed
their risks by September 3 in a way that stunned the Russian experts
and political scientists acting against Armenia.
How could they not be surprised when they found such solidarity
in Armenia where everyone thinks about the same thing - shedding
unnecessary responsibility for the sake of narrow interests and
aspirations?
