FOREIGN MINISTER DAVUTOGLU PAYS AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO SWITZERLAND

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet DavutoÃ~DŸlu paid
an official visit to Switzerland on October 10, 2013.
During their talks, Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu and Foreign
Minister of Switzerland, Didier Burkhalter addressed various aspects
of the bilateral relations between Turkey and Switzerland. Foreign
Ministers exchanged views on European policies, as well as current
regional and international issues and cooperation in the framework
of international organizations.
In his statement to the press after the meeting, Foreign Minister
DavutoÃ~DŸlu pointed out that the relations between Turkey and
Switzerland have developed rapidly in recent years.
Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu said that with his Swiss counterpart
they have agreed that a strategic cooperation framework will be
established in order to further the substance and format of the
bilateral relations. Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu maintained that
two sides will work together on this issue in the forthcoming months
and it is aimed to reach an agreement on a two-year action plan within
the framework of strategic cooperation during Swiss Foreign Minister's
visit to Turkey.
Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu underlined that it is decided to give
a new momentum to the bilateral relations in three fields and within
this framework, he mentioned that financial-economic cooperation will
be extended, high-level political visits will be increased and new
cultural activities will be initiated.
Pointing out that Turkey and Switzerland work together on variety of
issues, Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu said that both countries have
very special agendas concerning the EU and the transatlantic issues.
Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu also added that Nagorno Karabakh
conflict and the developments in Southern Caucasus was especially
addressed at the meeting and reminded that Switzerland made serious
efforts on the normalization of the relations between Turkey and
Armenia and the date of his visit coincides the 4th year of the
protocols signed between Turkey and Armenia.
During his visit to Switzerland Foreign Minister DavutoÃ~DŸlu was
received by Mr. Ueli Maurer, President of Switzerland Council, the
Minister of Federal Defense, Civilian Defense and Sports and also
met with Turkish Community in Switzerland.
