YEREVAN October 10
- Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sarkisyan arrives on a working
visit to Moscow on Friday, October 11, the press service of the
Armenian government reported on Thursday.
While in Moscow, the Armenian prime minister will meet with Russian
First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and Chairman of the Board
of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko.
The press service released no details of the agenda of talks Sarkisyan
plans to hold in Moscow. Experts predict that these talks will center
round Armenia's participation in the Customs Union [of Russia, Belarus
and Kazakhstan] and in the Eurasian economic integration processes.
After Moscow talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on September
3, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said that he had confirmed
Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union and the process of the
formation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
On Wednesday, October 9, the Armenian prime minister had a telephone
conversation with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev to discuss
closer cooperation between Armenia and the Customs Union.
"The two prime ministers discussed issues of further expansion of
cooperation between Armenia and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus
and Kazakhstan, as well as bilateral cooperation in the trade and
economic, and fuel and energy sectors," the press service of the
Armenian government said.
