Armenian president and Riga mayor discuss cooperation prospects
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today Chairman of the Riga
City Council Nil Ushakov, the presidential press service reported.
The Armenian president welcomed the Yerevan visit of the delegation
led by Riga mayor. The sides noted with satisfaction that close ties
have been established between the authorities of Yerevan and Riga in
the past three years, while the agreement on making Yerevan and Riga
sister cities, signed this year has created a solid basis for
development of cooperation between the two capital cities in various
spheres.
Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the participation of the Riga mayor in the
international conference of mayors of capital cities of the Council of
Europe member states. In his words, Armenia, which currently holds the
chairmanship of the CE Committee of Ministers, attaches importance to
the development of local self-government bodies and expansion of
decentralized cooperation.
