MORE THAN 13 % OF ARMENIAN CITIZENS CONSIDER THEMSELVES POOR

YEREVAN, October 17. / ARKA /. More than 13 % of Armenian citizens
consider themselves poor and - less than 1 % (0.3 percent) rich,
according to the findings of a public opinion survey conducted by
Sociometer polling center. The findings were presented today by the
head of the polling center Aharon Adibekyan.

The survey embraced 2,400 adult citizens from all regions of Armenia.

For comparison, Adibekyan cited data from a similar survey conducted
in 2008 , when only 9.3 % of respondents said they were poor and 0.3
    percent said they were rich.

He said one in six 'poor' respondent in the 2013 survey believes
that his status is to be blamed entirely on the government, about
half believe the government should support them, and the rest cited
other causes , in particular, local oligarchs.

Adibekyan said also that the majority of respondents - 83 % - in the
2013 survey assessed their state as modest (against 86 % in 2008) ,
    and 3% considered themselves well off (against 4.2% in 2008 ) .

According to the official data of the labor ministry, 35 percent of
    citizens are poor. -0-
