GEGHARKUNIK GOVERNOR OPTIMISTIC ABOUT REGION'S PROSPECTS
21:58 ~U 21.10.13
Gegharkunik Governor Rafik Grigoryan has no information on migrant
laborers leaving the region for other countries. However, he is sure
the people will come back because they are building new houses.
"Come here in autumn and see the progress in our region, market
activity and housing construction. I consider it much more important,
and the rest is temporary," Mr Grigoryan told Tert.am.
He admits emigration from the region, but he accounts for it by a
higher number of migrant workers than in other regions.
"If people do not have jobs and face the problem of keeping their
children, they leave to earn money and come back. This practice has
existed in our region since Soviet times," Grigoryan said.
