RUSSIA AND EU POSITIONS ON ARMENIA-KARABAKH CHECKPOINT COINCIDE?
October 24, 2013 | 15:20
YEREVAN. - The positions of Russia and EU regarding the checkpoint at
the border between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh in fact coincide. This
can be assumed from the statement of representative of the Russian
embassy Andrey Ivanov.
Asked about a checkpoint on Armenia-Karabakh borders in the context
of Armenia's possible joining Customs Union, Ivanov said this was
the question he had been asked by his EU colleagues.
"One of my first meetings in Yerevan was in EU office. I was asked
about the checkpoint. I asked how EU planned to solve the issue within
Association Agreement and DCFTA. They said there was no problem. My
answer was Russia does not see any problem, too," Ivanov said during
the Thursday press conference.
Asked to explain whether there would be no checkpoint or no problems,
the Russian diplomat said "problems." As to the checkpoint, he
refrained from further comments.
