The Azerbaijani delegation to the Euranest Parliamentary Assembly has
suspended its activities as a sign of protest against a resolution
criticizing the recent presidential election in the country.
Citing a statement by Erhan Suleymanov, the deputy chairperson of
the delegation, ITAR-TASS reports that the measure was adopted based
upon findings which said the election conduct was not in line with
the OSCE standards.
The Azerbaijani official said that the OSCE observation mission
had earlier praised the voting process, considering it free, fair
and transparent.
The statement says that Azerbaijan has to suspend the activities of
its delegations at the parliamentary assembly unless an inquest is
conducted and appropriate measures are taken.
