THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT SUPPORTED THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS ON NAGORNO-KARABAKH

    Turan Information Agency, Azerbaijan
    October 24, 2013 Thursday

    Baku/24.10.13/Turan:

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on October 23 on the
European Neighbourhood Policy , which expressed the need to restore
    the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

In particular, the 12th paragraph resolution notes that the occupation
by one state - party to the "Eastern Partnership " of the EU of the
territory of another member state of the program is a violation of the
fundamental principles and objectives of the "Eastern Partnership " .

It is particularly noted that the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict should be
resolved on the basis of the adopted in 1993 by the UN Security Council
    Resolutions No. 822 , 853 , 874 and 884 and the basic principles
of the OSCE Minsk Group , as reflected in L'Aquila joint statement,
the leaders of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( United States,
    France and Russia ) from July 10, 2009 .

"Recalls its position that the occupation by one country of the Eastern
Partnership of the territory of another violates the fundamental
principles and objectives of the Eastern Partnership and that the
resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should comply with UN
    Security Council resolutions 822 , 853, 874 and 884 of 1993 and the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk
Group Basic Principles, enshrined in the L'Aquila joint statement of
    10 July 2009 "

Thus, according to the press release from the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Azerbaijan, for the first time in the European Parliament
resolution it is stressed that the Armenian- Azerbaijani conflict
should be resolved in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions
demanding an immediate, unconditional and complete withdrawal of the
occupying forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories and the
territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the borders
    of Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Ministry also reminded that the European Parliament
previously adopted resolutions demanding withdrawal of Armenian
forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan , the return of
these territories under the control of Azerbaijan and of the right to
return home of refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as
the suspension of sending units of the Armenian army to the territory
    of Azerbaijan.--0--
