SYRIAN CRISIS CANNOT BE SOLVED WITHOUT DAMASCUS - EXPERT
September 03, 2013 | 13:16
YEREVAN. - Conflict in Syria cannot be settled without participation
of official Damascus, expert on Arabic studies Araks Pashayan said.
She stressed that the states planning military intervention, in
particular UK, France and the U.S., have not got authorization from
the parliaments.
Any aggression against Syria can be considered as a violation of
the international law, as the UN resolution has not been adopted,
she added.
"The United States will be unable to solve such a tough problem
unilaterally, as the military conflict is layered with religious
contradiction between Sunnis and Shiites," Pashayan told reporters.
Therefore, conflict settlement requites serious efforts that will
take into account the role of Damascus, she concluded.
