168 ZHAM: PIRELLI REPRESENTATIVES VISIT YEREVAN RUBBER PLANT

The paper says it has learned from sources that representatives of the
Italian tyre company Pirelli have visited the Nayirit rubber plant to
get familiarized with the chemical giant and evaluate possibilities
of cooperation.
They are in Armenia upon the invitation of the Russian Rosneft which
reportedly expects the Italian partners to have their share of the
investments in the renovation of the Yerevan plant. The paper notes
that Pirelli is the world's fifth biggest tyre manufacturer which
operates 24 plants in 13 countries.
Apart from tyre manufacturing, the company also engages in the
procession of new rubber technologies. Hence, the cooperation is
expected to focus on that trned, adds the paper. Citing its "reliable
sources", it says further that the company has become more resolute
after President Serzh Sargsyan's statement about joining the Customs
Union and demands that the the plant be handed over to it without
accumulated debts.
