Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley issued a proclamation on Armenia's
Independence Day that also noted Nagorno Karabakh as a "fledgling
democracy". Maryland has thus become the latest U.S. state to have
publicly expressed support for Artsakh.
The document also stressed that "Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh and the
United States share the same values and believe in the fundamental
principles of freedom, democracy, self-determination and human rights."
As proclamation states, people of the State of Maryland uphold and
embrace those values and extend their support to "all those who chose
to develop as free and democratic nations."
