YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: Minister of Diaspora of the Republic
of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan received the head of the Armenian office
of UNHCR Kristoff Frederick Otto Biervirti. As Armenpress was informed
from the press service of the Ministry of Diaspora, the head of the
"Coordinating Center on Syrian-Armenian issues" NGO Lena Halajyan
was also present at the meeting.
The Minister of Diaspora underlined Armenian positions on the issue
of Syrian-Armenians and the programs that have been implemented. She
also noted that in Ashatarak Armenian government is building the
suburb of New Aleppo that has already kicked off.
Kristoff Frederick Otto Biervirti thanked the minister for her
presentation and support and noted that they thoroughly understand
the worries of the Armenian side concerning the challenges for
Syrian-Armenians.
During the meeting the sides have committed themselves to work closer
and jointly implement projects in 2014
