Marxist hails Armenia's accession to Customs Union
13:53 - 29.09.13
Chairman of the Marxist party of Armenia David Hakobyan believes that
Armenia's accession to the Customs Union is the country's greatest
victory `after 22 years of wandering and economic experiments.'
`It was a victory of the new alliance because some Armenian political
figures think that such phrases as `customs or economic area' mean
trade or economy. But we are actually moving toward a new evolutionary
alliance with Russia's hegemony, which is our country's greatest
achievement during these years,' Hakobyan told Tert.am.
`This new alliance will bring at least 50- 100-year-long peace to
world politics, because this new alliance is the only counterbalance
to pan-American hegemony, which poses a threat to world politics,' he
said.
With respect to the opinion that by joining the Customs Union Armenia
yields part of its sovereignty, Hakobyan is sure that acceding to the
Customs Union does not pose any threat to Armenia's sovereignty.
`I was the first of the severest critics of our president and
government to hail this final victory of pro-Russian orientation. We
must be proud of being part of this union,' Hakobyan said.
Joining the Customs Union means prosperity for Armenian civilization.
The claims that joining the Customs Union is against Armenia's
national interests are erroneous, he said.
