A group of citizens are currently marching in defense of retired army
colonel Volodya Avetisyan. The group is heading to the presidential
compound to demand release of the jailed colonel, 'who was put in
prison for his political views.'
A month ago, they addressed a letter to Serzh Sargsyan asking him
to follow the investigation and release Avetisyan but they have not
received any reply from the presidential palace.
Volodya Avetisyan, an active participant of protests held by Karabakh
War veterans, was detained in September 2013, on suspicion of receiving
$2000 from an official of the Ministry of Defense for assistance to
release an Armenian citizen from military service.
