TORCHLIGHT VIGIL TO ARMENIAN GENOCIDE MEMORIAL ON APRIL 23

YEREVAN. - Armenian youth organizations will stage a traditional
torchlight vigil to the Armenian Genocide Memorial at 7:30pm on
April 23.
The participants sent a letter to President Serzh Sargsyan demanding
withdrawal of signature from Armenia-Turkey protocols for the sake
of justice, condemnation and continuation of the efforts aimed at
Armenian Genocide recognition ahead of the 100th anniversary next year.
The fact of the Armenian Genocide is recognized by many states. It was
first recognized in 1965 by Uruguay. In general, the Armenian Genocide
in Ottoman Turkey has already been recognized by 21 countries and 43
out of 50 U.S. states.
Turkey denies accusations of mass killings of Armenians during the
First World War and is extremely sensitive to criticism voiced by
the western states.
