RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT TO PROPOSE TO PRESIDENT TO SIGN AGREEMENT ON ARMENIA'S ACCESSION TO EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION
YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. Submission of a proposal to the president
on signing the agreement about Armenia's accession to the Eurasian
Economic Union is included in the agenda of Russian cabinet meeting
on Thursday, says the official website of the Russian government.
It is a basic document defining agreements between the Russian
Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan on Armenia's accession, says
the report.
On May 29, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed an agreement about
the Eurasian Economic Union to come into force on January 1, 2015.
During the meeting Armenia's president Serzh Sargsyan said Yerevan
will join the union by mid June, but the respective documents have
not been signed yet.
Russia's president Vladimir Putin said on July 1 at his meeting with
diplomats that Armenia would become a full-fledged member of the
EEU very soon. Earlier, mass media referred to Kazakhstan foreign
minister Yerlan Idrisov as saying the agreement with Armenia will be,
most probably, signed in October. -0--
