YEREVAN, AUGUST 15, ARMENPRESS. 50 crypto Armenians from Turkey's
Diyarbakir, (Tigranakert), who have arrived in Armenia within the
frames of the program "Ari Tun" of the Ministry of Diaspora of the
Republic of Armenia, will return to historic Armenia imbued with a
sense of unity. As reports "Armenpress", on August 15, during a press
conference this was said by Diyarbakir Armenian community
representative Ohannes Ohanyan (Gafur Turkay), visiting Armenia for
the third time. According to him, the initiative was particularly
important for the restoration and reunification of the severed link
between the Armenians living in Turkey and the other segment of the
Armenians after ninety years. "Within fifteen days of our stay in
Armenia we saw that we have the same goals - to come together and
preserve our unity, and we are leaving to Diyarbakir with this sense,"
he said.
The visit to Armenia gives an opportunity to recover lost contacts
with their relatives. "Our entire family was massacred during the
Genocide, and only three children were able to survive. The mother of
one of them managed to take her to Syria, from where they eventually
came and settled down in Armenia. The other two brothers were able to
survive in Western Armenia being forced to profess Islam. For the
first time coming to Armenia I was very impressed and touched twice,
because I could find and get acquainted with my uncle's family that
live in Armenia," said Ohanyan.
