Basque parliamentarians call for condemnation of Azerbaijani aggression
19:49, 15 August, 2014
YEREVAN, AUGUST 15, ARMENPRESS. The military aggression of the
Azerbaijani side against Nagorno-Karabakh, cases of shooting at the
civilian population and the car of the International Committee of the
Red Cross should be condemned by the international community. This was
said in a joint statement by Basque Senator Aiartza Azurtza and
Congress member Jon Inarritu, provided to "Armenpress".
The statement particularly reads that Azerbaijan's recent actions are
violations of international law and are contrary to the
requirements of the Minsk Group on maintaining the ceasefire regime.
"During these years the people of Nagorno-Karabakh
managed to create a peaceful and democratic society. They deserve
independence and freedom. The international community
should stand by their side and stop Azerbaijan's military ambitions.
Azerbaijan's continuing aggression endangers the ceasefire agreement,
which was signed 20 years ago. We demand that the European Union and
the governments of member states condemn the attacks of the
Azerbaijani side, that jeopardize the vital work carried out by the
Minsk Group and force Azerbaijan to stop the violence," reads the
statement of the Basque parliamentarians.
