ZHOGHOVURD: INTN'L ORGANIZATIONS NOT INDIFFERENT TO CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS IN ARMENIA
09:13 * 19.08.14
The paper claims that the proposed constitutional reforms which have
spurred wide controversies over the recent period are also encouraged
by international organizations.
Citing the secretariat the commission tasked with elaborating
the amendments, it says that the German Society for International
Cooperation (GIZ) and the OSCE Office in Yerevan cover the necessary
technical and organizational expenses. But their assistance is
reportedly limited to only the technical costs; the paper claims that
the commission's members do not get an extra pay for visits.
The paper adds that its earlier requests for information about the
amounts spent were left unanswered. The most interesting thing,
according to the paper, is that the reforms in question are not
widely demanded in Armenia, with the authorities apparently seeking to
"impose" them on the society "with the West's active support".
