Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro C. Bacani, Jr. will celebrate a
feast mass at 5 p.m. today at the San Bartolome Parish on Rizal
Avenue, Malabon City in solemn observance of the Feast of Saint
Bartholomew (San Bartolome), one of the 12 apostles of Christ, and a

Masses will be held by the hour from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. A solemn
procession was held yesterday.
Festivities will also be held in Catbalogan, Samar; Magalang,
Pampanga; Meycauayan, Bulacan; and in Nagcarlan, Laguna.
Known in the Scriptures as Nathaniel, San Bartolome witnessed the
Ascension of Jesus. Together with St. Jude, he introduced Christianity
to Armenia during the first century hence, the two holy men are
considered as the patrons of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
San Bartolome also preached in India, Mesopotamia, Iran, and Egypt and
was able to convert thousands to Christianity.
Meanwhile, the first church dedicated to San Ezequiel Moreno y Diaz,
the patron of cancer patients who once served as parish priest in Las
Piñas City(1876 - 1879), was inaugurated last Aug. 19 to coincide with
the feast day of the revered Spanish Recollect friar.
The Santuario de San Ezequiel Moreno, located on the C5 Extension Road
in Las Piñas City, was designed by Claude Edwin Andrews and features
architectural elements from the Spanish colonial times with a modern
twist.
