The complex program of Amulsar open pit mining and the construction
of a heap leach facility was issued a conditional positive opinion
by the environmental expertise of Nature Protection Ministry, if 6
requirements are complied with. The opinion says:
1. Thus, Article 8 of RA Law "On Lake Sevan" says that the direct
impact zone of Lake Sevan basin is an object of special regulation,
i.e. any urban development is guided by the requirements of the
governmental resolution no. N792-N "On Approving the Urban Development
Procedure of Specially Regulated Objects" and resolution "On Approving
the Master Plan of Lake Sevan Drainage Basin Area" N1787 N dated
on 11.12.2003.
2. To ensure the enforcement of the requirements of the governmental
resolution N 746-N dated on 18.07.2013 concerning the protection
of environment in the area of 22 kilometer-long tunnel joining the
Spandaryan - Kechout reservoirs.
3. To implement the plan on protection and transfer of red-listed
Potentilla Porphyrantha according to the governmental resolution
N781-N dated on 31.07.2014 having prior consent of the Nature
Protection Ministry.
4. To ensure the radiation monitoring of the environment in the course
of mining activities.
5. Before the launch of the activities, regulate the issues connected
with the private and public land areas, which are included in the
project area.
6. Two years before the mine closedown, submit the mine closedown
project to the Nature Protection Ministry as set by the procedure.
It's noteworthy that if we scrutinize the requirements, we will see
that the restrictions are put on all the activities of Amulsar project.
EcoLur's upcoming materials will present comments on the positive
opinion issued by "Environmental Expertise" SNCO.
