"The Central Bank is implementing the right policy. The fewer
statements it issues the more confident the population will feel,
because it is this speculative game that account for the USD
appreciation..."
In an interview with Tert.am, economist Vilen Khachatryan commented
on the latest exchange fluctuations.
According to him, it is "gambling" on the US dollar.
"I can cite the example of 2009, when people sustained losses. If
the situation gets stabilized within ten days, the exchange rate will
be balanced."
With respect to the Central Bank's policy, Mr Khachatryan said:

Armenia's Premier Hovik Abrahamyan commented on the matter on
Wednesday.
"There can be actors entering the currency market. But it is expected
to cause USD depreciation. And it is international practice," Mr
Khachatryan said.
That is, there may be agiotage without any economic grounds. "It
is called irrational behavior. It can be applied in different ways,
in a bank's case, for example. And such a bank may go bankrupt."
