Member of the Karabakh Committee Ashot Manucharyan says the world
today reminds the Titanic where the 'favorites' are assembled in a
luxury room and are enjoying themselves while the liner is sinking.
Speaking about Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union,
Mr Manucharyan said, "It is very nice that you are on friendly terms
with your neighbours but it should not be done at the expense of your
country's interests. For example, Georgia is facing the threat of
losing its sovereignty. We should say 'Sober up, Georgia!. What are you
doing? We need you as Georgia and not as, for example, Switzerland."
"Instead of contemplating over this, we are concerned about the person
residing at 26 Baghramyan [presidential palace]. We have not made
any political step on our initiative in the last 10-15 years: we are
busy playing in casinos," he continued adding, "If you limit yourself
only to politics, you should know that there is no politics in Armenia
today. You will have to obey your uncles and do whatever they say."
Speaking about the political situation in Armenia and particularly, in
reply to A1+'s question what consequences the opposition's activation
might have in the post-election period, Mr Manucharyan said, "It can
only cause people to unite. The activity could prepare the ground
for having 'truly elected leaders' in the next election."
Ashot Manucharyan also spoke about the newly-formed Hayastan initiative
which aims to save the country from external influences and threats.
