To avoid change in the riverbed of the Araqs River because of the sand
mining in the basin of Aras River and to exclude any transboundary
impact, soil managers will undergo monthly monitoring for the state of
the riverbed and sustainability.
The Armenian Government adopted tis resolution on 4 December making
amendments to its earlier resolution 18-N dated on 10 January 2008.
Under the resolution, the outcomes of the monitoring will be submitted
to Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, Nature Protection Ministry
and State Security Service by the Armenian Government.
Reminder: the specialists have beaten alarm signals many times that
the sand mines on the Araqs banks is so much that the riverbed is
changed thus making the territory of our country more and more narrow.
