ETHIOPIA: PORTUGAL, ETHIOPIA COMMEMORATE RELATIONSHIP

The Embassy of Portugal has announced a program designed to commemorate
the fifth centenary of Ethio-Portuguese relations. It is expected to
officially open with a reception and show on December, 8, at Addis
Abeba national theatre.
"Lately we have been receiving different interest from Portuguese
companies who want to invest in Ethiopia in differing sectors. I
believe this would be reinforced in coming years and the program would
create a platform for Portuguese investors," said Antonio Luiz Cotrim,
ambassador of Portugal to Ethiopia.
The relation between Ethiopia and Portugal has scored over 500 years,
beginning from the time when Queen Elleni of Ethiopia sent a diplomatic
mission to Portugal headed by an Armenian descent called Mathewos,
in 1514.
The program is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (MoFA) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCT).
