ARMENIAN WINE TASTED IN BRUSSELS
YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. Some varieties of Armenian wine were
tasted Monday in Solvay Royal Library in Brussels, the press office
of the Armenian economy ministry reports. The event was attended
by Armenian Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan, his deputy Garegin
Melkonyan and Armenian Ambassador to Belgium Tatul Margaryan. "The aim
of the event is to contribute to development of wine industry and to
help Armenian winemakers in their efforts to build up exports, reach
EU markets and find new partners there," the ministry says in the
press release. Some 100 representatives of large trade networks and
organizations engaged in wine import and restaurant business as well
as prominent journalists and sommeliers were invited for the tasting.
The visitors also tasted Armenian lavash (cracker bread), cheese and
sweets. The event has been organized by the Industry Development
Fund and the Armenian Development Agency under support from the
office representing Armenia's trade in the European Union and the
Armenian government as part of the state support to the country's
wine industry. ---0----
